WHY SEARCH THE LIVING AMONGST THE DEAD

These were the words of the two angels to the women that had run to the tomb on the third day of Jesus’s death. The angels told the women, why are you looking for the living amongst the dead? This question from the angels to the women including Mary Magdalene, Joana and the rest got my attention while studying the scripture today as I write this blog around 2am GMT.

“They stood there puzzled about this, when suddenly two men in bright shining clothes stood by them. Full of fear, the women bowed down to the ground, as the men said to them, “Why are you looking among the dead for one who is alive? He is not here; he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was in Galilee:”

The HolySpirit drew my attention to these words from the angels. And He asked me, how many times do we look for living things amongst the dead? Oh how I wowed at Him!

For me this revelation from the HolySpirit was a conviction and insight I personally needed for my life. But then I said to myself, many others need to hear this truth from God. Now I remember studying about living and non-living things in primary school. But I decided to look for a suitable definition for living things in this context.

Living things have a variety of characteristics that are displayed to different degrees: they respire, move, respond to stimuli, reproduce and grow, and are dependent on their environment.

So with the definition giving above, I want to ask you to begin to reflect on the things that are supposed to be alive and active in your life but you constantly look for them in the opposite of living things. Could it also be that we haven’t yet identified the dead things in our lives?

And yes, because these women had gone to look for the one who is living( Jesus) amongst dead people, Jesus didn’t reveal Himself to them but rather went into the gathering of his disciples who were together and encouraging themselves and also hoping for a miracle to happen because they, remembered the Words of Jesus when He was with them.

“saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭7‬ ‭KJV‬‬
It was obvious the disciples remembered the Words in Luke 24:7. Hence they held on to it. They knew going to the tomb would be a major sign of unbelief against what Jesus had told them before dying! And Glory to God, JESUS showed up! And even made them touch Him because He wasn’t a ghost!

I’m excited to announce to you that even the dead things in your life, have received life through the resurrection power of our risen King. His name is JESUS! Let the old and dead things in your life remain in the tomb, and reach out for the living things God has given you at the right places in Him! Hallelujah!
