From the lines and precepts of Proverbs 31 and Matthew 13:45-46. I am convinced that God didn’t only call women to become life companions to our husbands but to also thrive with our hands.

In Proverbs 31:13-14, the bible says, ”She seeketh wool, and flax and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.(NKJV). Here, we see that one of the divine mandate of a godly woman is the art of merchant. As Christian women, we have the inherent capability of working not only as career women but more importantly, entrepreneurs.

Women Don’t Search for husbands, Men Finds Wives.

As God uses the word ‘searcheth’ for man in Proverbs 18:22, ”He who finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtaineth favor in the sight of God”. In Proverbs 31:10, ” Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. These scriptures makes me believe that as women, we are not mandated to even search for the men of our dreams, but for them to find us. And one of the easiest sign for them in choosing us is our ability to find something to do with our hands.

The bible said in Matthew 13:45 ” Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a merchant seeking a godly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all he had, and bought it. Here, i see God liking the Merchant Man to Jesus, who gave his life for man, just so we could be saved and have our inheritance back. But i also see, the merchant man likened to man who was searching for a wife, found her as a pearl, and sold all he had for the woman even though the bible says our worth is far above rubies.

As daughters of Zion, one of our primary mandate which is not even gender specific is to work with our hands, especially in serving God in his house. And in every field we endeavor to pursue, we must strive to do it well by the Grace of God. So we can we take care of our families and other people. Be a Merchant Woman Today! or better put, Have an entrepreneurial mindset and you will be found easily!

  1. I couldn’t agree any more! Your post brings to mind the story of Abraham’s servant searching for a wife for Isaac in Genesis 24. Rebecca wasn’t found by sitting at home doing nothing, she was found because she went to the well to fetch water.
    Bless you sis!
